Thank you for Subscribing to CIO Applications Weekly Brief
Headquartered in Naples, Florida, Scribe Technology Solutions is simplifying this cumbersome process of medical records collection through its cloud-based platform. The platform offers flexibility, control, and productivity to healthcare providers in creating and managing medical records efficiently.
In an interview with CIO Applications, Mark Boyce, the president and CEO of Scribe Technology Solutions, shares his contribution and future innovation plans in the healthcare industry. Concurrently, Boyce points out Scribe’s unique range of solutions and how the company stands out from its competitors.
Can you give us a brief overview of Scribe Technology Solutions?
We derive our name from the old word ‘scribe’, meaning trusted professional assistants and advisors. Because, like them, Scribe Technology Solutions acts as personal assistants for healthcare individuals with an unrivalled dedication; our cloud-enabled platform enables a physician to increase their productivity through simplified and easy-to-use patient record-keeping apps and services that complies with different regulatory requirements.
Scribe is at the point in the healthcare realm where the “rubber meets the road.” The company was created by doctors, practice managers, and administrators to leverage latest technologies that redefine the way medical practitioners work. We have a strong focus on the three “Ps”—productivity, profitability, and patient care.
Care providers can improve patient care and practice profitability with Scribe’s innovative voice recognition technology that allows healthcare professionals to record patient encounters in a more conversational, detailed way than any other speech recognition technologies. The company makes use of cloud-based workflow solutions to capture the voice entries as unstructured data. This unstructured data is then broken down into structured and discrete information with Scribe’s AI system. Once approved by providers, this information is translated into the provider’s clinical documentation system.
We, at Scribe, design customer-centric solutions including— Scribe Create, Scribe Monetize, Scribe Analyze, and Scribe Mobile that provide flexibility, control, and increased physician productivity for documentation, medical coding, and billing. Our Scribe Create solution is a complete family of cloud-based patient-encounter workflow solutions to register, manage, complete, and communicate clinical documentation. Simultaneously, clients can use Scribe Monetize to enhance medical coding and billing workflows to ensure the documentation is optimized to clearly support the provider’s billing, resulting in fewer denials and increased revenue. On the other hand, Scribe Analyze improves efficiencies with innovative tools that use the next generation of data and information management technologies to help care providers enhance their productivity and profitability status. In addition to these three solutions, ScribeMobile app is the most efficient way for providers to capture patient encounters quickly and efficiently and then easily review, approve, and access patient documents anytime and anywhere.

Scribe has always been passionate about pioneering “out-of-the-box” solutions. We continuously suggest, “Not paving over the cow path,”—do not do things just because others are doing it. Therefore, we go through extensive research before venturing into exciting new areas and solutions that aim to reduce medical practitioners’ pain points significantly.
Today, a physician can easily use Scribe’s app to pull out past patient records, compare them with patients having similar conditions, and analyze how effective the treatment might be. Alternatively, using Scribe’s technology, the doctor can also create a dashboard that will quickly input this information to a report and access the data later for any analytics that a provider might need.
How does your company stand apart from its competitors? Can you cite any customer success story?
Owing to Scribe’s prowess in the realm of registering and managing medical records, healthcare providers have been able to achieve up to 30-40 percent improvement in productivity and significant progress in collecting detailed patient information, resulting in better reimbursements and improved patient care. At the same time, it is easy to personalize Scribe’s solution as per the client necessities. The company’s technical tools provide the ability to work with different IT systems. Interoperability is Scribe’s unique value proposition. Consequently, our future milestones are focused on bolstering our products’ capabilities and reach. New products and enhancements include continued improvement for data portability and collaboration and actionable data analytics. Right now, our company is significantly expanding in the U.S. and has strategic partners around the world.
One recent example of how Scribe has worked with its clients to tailor a solution would be our partnership with one reputed healthcare entity. The client was facing difficulty in consolidating data from its affiliates in a unified system. By deploying Scribe’s solutions, the client was successful in consolidating documentation, increasing productivity, improving the quality of service while reducing costs of back-office processes.
Can you please shed some light on the future roadmap for Scribe Technology Solutions?
We are expecting to see explosive growth for technology-driven services that will make it simple for healthcare professionals capturing, communicating, and analyzing healthcare information. Scribe’s team is focused on offering solutions, not products, and knows how to work effectively and efficiently in mixed technology environments. Additionally, we are not afraid to innovate and to bring technology-driven solutions. We are currently looking at a partnership with Amazon—beyond our AWS requirements—to offer an Alexa-enabled Scribe mobile app for physicians so that they can have bi-directional communication with the solution.
